Honda is rewriting the rules of urban mobility with the official reveal of the Honda N-One e: — a pint-sized electric city car that blends classic kei car charm with modern EV innovation. While it’s built for Japan’s kei car category, its unique mix of style, function, and potential export ambition makes it a standout in the world of compact electric vehicles.

Debuting as a production version of the Honda Super EV Concept seen at Goodwood and GIIAS, the N-One e: may be small in stature but it delivers in personality. With a revamped front end, distinctive square-cut projector lights, dual charging ports (AC and DC), and a flatter bonnet, the N-One e: brings a fresh face to familiar streets. At the rear, subtle tweaks give it a more refined and futuristic stance, including a relocated number plate recess and retro-styled valance.

Inside, the design stays minimalist and functional — clean horizontal lines, a flat dashboard, digital display, and push-button gear selector create a spacious and airy cabin experience, perfect for navigating tight city spaces. No touchscreen comes standard, but a 9-inch Honda Connect unit can be added for those seeking a tech boost.

Powering the N-One e: is the same setup as its N-Van e: sibling — a front-mounted electric motor pushing 64 PS and 162 Nm, fueled by a compact 29.6 kWh battery. Despite its size, the car impresses with a WLTP range of up to 270 km — outclassing rivals like the Nissan Sakura and Mitsubishi eK X EV by a solid margin.
While the domestic model is designed to fit within Japan’s kei car regulations, the real buzz is around its global potential. The Super EV Concept variant hints at what could be a broader international launch, featuring sportier aesthetics, a more powerful motor, and an extended range — potentially bringing Honda’s signature “fun-to-drive” philosophy to EV enthusiasts worldwide.

With rising demand for compact electric solutions in congested cities, the N-One e: could be the right car at the right time. Whether as a cool urban commuter or a next-gen kei icon, Honda might just have something special on its hands. The question now is: will Malaysia and other ASEAN markets get to experience it firsthand? Stay tuned.
