Proton has officially revealed more details about its upcoming compact electric hatchback, the e.MAS 5, which will be priced between RM60,000 and RM80,000. The model will be offered in two variants — the e.MAS 5 Prime and e.MAS 5 Premium — with both prices inclusive of the battery.
The announcement was made during a special livestream event, where Proton also confirmed that bookings are now open at all 42 Proton e.MAS dealerships nationwide. Interested buyers can secure a unit with a booking fee of RM99. The official launch is expected to take place in Q4 2025, with deliveries starting in November.

Early Bird Perks and Special Offers
Proton is offering several incentives for early adopters. The first 5,000 customers will receive an additional RM500 rebate on their booking fee, along with a limited-edition Proton e.MAS Enhanced Touch ‘n Go NFC card. This exclusive card will come preloaded with RM100 credit.
Customers who booked their e.MAS 5 prior to the livestream announcement will also be entitled to these Early Bird rewards.
Proton e.MAS 5 Prime — Entry-Level With 30.12kWh Battery
Serving as the entry-level model, the e.MAS 5 Prime is equipped with a 30.12kWh LFP battery supplied by CATL. Power comes from a rear-mounted electric motor producing 58kW (78hp) and 130Nm of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 50km/h in 4.4 seconds.
Top speed is rated at 125km/h, and it offers a WLTP-rated range of 225km. Road tax is minimal at RM30 per year, based on Malaysia’s current EV road tax calculator.
Charging times are reasonable for its class — 21 minutes (30% to 80%) via DC fast charging, and around 4.3 hours (10% to 100%) with AC charging. The Prime variant also comes with 15-inch steel wheels, distinguishing it from its higher-spec sibling.

Proton e.MAS 5 Premium — More Power, More Range
The Premium variant takes things up a notch with an 85kW (114hp) motor delivering 150Nm of torque. It completes the 0 to 50km/h sprint in 3.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 135km/h. Despite the extra performance, the road tax remains affordable at RM60 per year.
The Premium model uses a larger 40.16kWh LFP battery, also from CATL, providing a WLTP-rated range of up to 325km. Charging times are similar to the Prime — 21 minutes (30% to 80%) with DC, and around 5.9 hours (10% to 100%) using AC.

Colour Options and Interior Themes
Both variants of the Proton e.MAS 5 are available in Moonstone White, Slate Grey, and Graphite Silver, paired with a Flint Grey interior. The Premium trim also offers two additional exterior colours — Quartz Rose and Marble Cream, both matched with an Alabaster White interior for a more upscale feel.

With an attractive price point, nationwide availability, and early adopter perks, the Proton e.MAS 5 is shaping up to be one of Malaysia’s most accessible entry-level EVs when it launches later this year.
